Training to compete

Optimising the Engine

During this stage there should be a continued emphasis on physical conditioning with the focus on maintaining high volume workloads, but with increasing intensity. Competition emphasis should be on developing individual strengths and working on weaknesses. This should be achieved through practising technical and tactical skills based around specific strokes at all distances or specific distances across a range of strokes.

Club sessions appropriate to this level:

  • Sunday 6.30pm to 8.00pm
  • Monday 7.45pm to 8.30pm
  • Tuesday 7.00am to 8.00am (by coach invitation)
  • Thursday 8.30pm to 10.00pm
  • Friday 6.30pm to 8.00pm (by coach invitation)
